But Saenna ... *sigh* ;D *laughs* Don't let her meek demeanor fool you, Saenna is simply trouble! This is lovely, dear! Very stylised, especially Adya's circle-eyes - it almost puts me in mind of an older-style woodblock print, like they used to put in the old books, but with a bit more detail and greyscale thrown in. The greys do wonders for it all, especially making that red blood stand out. Gorgeous piece! Joelle Duran replies: "Thanks! The eyes weren't supposed to be that extreme, but between scanning and color effects... *shrugs* I can stand them."

Poor lass. *chuckles* She doesn't view herself as pitiable at all, she's fairly happy how she is. Perhaps because the other high-ranking mages are too snooty for her liking. I do like the starkness of this picture, and the clouds in the background. Very shadowy. Joelle Duran replies: "Thanks! And, uh, looks like you did visit... *needs to learn how to count*"

Don't worry, when it comes to art critting I've no skill either, so I don't do it as much as I should. It's just easier to pick at grammer. =) {/non-picture comment} This is a very stirring piece. I really like the colouring and how the red stands out because of the overall hue. Of course I'm biased towards blue. Still, that aside, it's hard to imagine this piece in a different colour. It's the blue that gives it a lot of its impact. To be honest, I think that the way you blended the drawing with the tweaked photos is lovely. I wouldn't have been able to tell if you hadn't mentioned it in the description. Style comments all done, the way it related to the poem. I haven't read it for ages, so it was a nice refresher. It's a gorgeous piece, whatever nits I have at it. (And if you dare tear it up and throw it away, I will send Vonre over and beg Becca to see if she can't devise a way for Nawa to come along. 'Tis GOOD and 'tis gorgeous and let no one tell you differently. ^-^) I *am* planning to take the poem down soon, but don't worry. I won't throw it out! I think I can get The Defender to sing it to Geren in my fifth book, and I'm not passing that up. =) *shakes head* I should get back to the picture now. I should probably note that I really, really like story-within-stories. ^-^ They're such an intruiging thing to write. Or draw. It's lovely. Even if it doesn't depict the poem itself, it conveys the same feelings, with a touch of added longing of that irrealism (*coughthebluecough*). That makes the whole piece much stronger. If that makes any sense. It's a gorgeous piece, Joelle! ^-^ Joelle Duran replies: "Thanks, Shanra! And yes, the perfect color for this is blue, no doubts about it. I tried using the 'real' colors first, and it just didn't 'work' that way."

| 11 Oct 2007 | Kim Schoonover (Darth Maul´s scary sister) | Loading...*shakes head* People and their fantasies... honestly. Not to mention girls and romantic fantasies! This picture is verifyably creepifying, I must say, what with the colors and haziness and all... especially the vivid red of the blood in all of the blue... Joelle Duran replies: "Well, I'm glad to hear it comes off as rather weird. The original pencil sketch was quite dull in comparison." | |

| 13 Feb 2008 | Matthias Schmidt | Loading...This picture has such a sad, but yet beautiful mood. He seems to be dying, but her face says "rest my dear, everything is going to be all right". And I love the clouds in the background. They come from a photograph, do they? A nice composotion of shape and colour (okay, that’s basically shades of blue, but that makes it even more... sophisticated ). Joelle Duran replies: "Thanks for the visit! Yes, I did use photos for the background, some non-copyrighted freebie ones. Glad to hear the mood comes across and you like the composition!" | |

| 12 Jul 2009 | Yoni Danziger | Loading...That’s very sad… Really romantic, but very very sad… I think that you chose your colors wisely, blue for night, blue for sadness, blue for death. Truly amazing!
Joelle Duran replies: "I’m glad to hear the blueness works...and that the romance of it comes across. "
